New Illinois law will impact Illinois insurance producers in 2010!
The Illinois Insurance Act has been amended to make the following changes to continuing education requirements for all Illinois insurance producers with licenses expiring on or after January 1, 2010:
- The continuing education requirement for each renewal period has been reduced from 30 hours to 24 hours.
- However, 3 of the 24 hours must consist of "classroom ethics instruction."

My license expires in 2010, but I planned ahead and completed my continuing education in 2009. Am I subject to the new law described above?
Yes. The new law applies to all licensees who renew on or after January 1, 2010. You will need to complete the new Ethics course requirement to remain compliant and renew your license.
Are there any exceptions?
No. The Department of Insurance requires all licensees to comply.
